Summer Podfic Swap (2022!) Dear Podficcer Letter

General likes: humor, backstory, character study, canon queer characters, stories about developing intimacy (friendship or romantic), fluff, crack, whimsy. I prefer that M/M ships be canon, but otherwise chaos reigns.

I like ‘canon-typical’ levels of violence/weirdness/sexiness. I am generally pro-smut/kink, but think it works best when there’s humor (and maybe character development) in the pwp. There are very few kink-content things that are a hard no for me if the fic tells us why the character likes it (or, in canons with fucked-up interpersonal dynamics, why they’re doing it). I also like silly gen and weird gen! No need to get NSFW if you don't wanna! I’m open to (anon) questions in the comments. 

Do Not Wants: menstrual content, graphic depictions of pregnancy complications, de-aging and/or aus where the characters have a parent/child relationship that doesn’t exist in canon (backstory talking about when a character was a child is fine). Ageplay is iffy. Making a character trans is cool, but I want to see them comfortable in their skin/self and being loved, without emphasizing/graphically depicting trans-specific trauma.
Minor Squicks: combining food and sex (including watching someone’s mouth as they eat)

Our Flag Means Death: There’s so much! I would love if you recorded some of it for me.

Interests: Ed/Stede figuring their shit out 5ever, Edward POV/character study, humor that acknowledges that Stede is just as nuts as Ed if not more, Jim/Olu, Jim-centric fic and backstory (Spanish Jackie?), Lucius POV (Lucius/Pete, Lucius/Fang, both?), how any of the Revenge crew ended up on the ship in the first place (how did Frenchie get so good at grifting?), the widow’s club, past Edward/Calico Jack where Jack is a nasty nasty man. 

Izzy Hands does nothing for me (except as a foil for the other guys). Sorry, 80% of OFMD fandom!

The Locked Tomb Trilogy (Gideon the Ninth + Harrow the Ninth) I thiiiink I’m open to anything here, but interests off the top of my head are: Gideon/Harrow, Gideon & Harrow in a nonsense situation where they have to get along, Harrow/Ianthe?, weird canon backstory stuff (including Augustine/Mercymorn/John), fics that mock God. Also interested in stuff featuring the necro/cav pairs from other houses.


Dimension 20 (Unsleeping City, Fantasy High, Misfits and Magic, Mice and Murder, Starstruck, Escape from Bloodkeep – actually anything *except* Crown of Candy. I will have finished Pirates of Leviathan by swappin’ time.)

I haven’t read too much fic for D20! But my faves are: 

Fantasy High: Fig/Ayda, Kristin Applebees in general, Zelda/Gorgug. I love the chaos of Fabian’s life but am not really into shipping him with Riz or other non-canon M/M ships (unless it’s very funny). The Bad Kids being friends is great.

Unsleeping City: I love them all but especially like (Season 2) Pete & Sofia’s friendship, and Ricky & Cody’s dynamic.
Bloodkeep: Leiland is my favorite.

Misfits & Magic: Everyone

The Seven: Literally everyone

Starstruck: Barry/Sid, Everybody/Gnosis, Sundry Sidney in general

 

*definitely leaning funny gen/not-smut for this fandom! Except for Starstruck. And maybe The Seven, if that exists. (*whispers* does RPF exist for The Seven)

What We Do In The Shadows (TV): I hear this is a smut-heavy ao3 fandom and am generally down for whatever as long as everyone is having a good time. I think the evolution of Nandor/Guillermo’s relationship is fascinating. I’m wondering what’s out there in terms of Nadja-centric fic, openly bi Laszlo, and depictions of their relationship. Also fic that exists for pure comedy reasons! Movie canon is also welcome, as long as it’s fun/funny.
